5-10-2019 Erik Karlsson reaches a milestone !
Erik Karlsson(OTT) notched the 400th assist of his career in tonight's game against the Boston Bruins on a goal by Bobby Ryan. Sometimes the puck just bounces your way..., he commented during a post game radio interview..

A native of Sweden, Erik Karlsson was originally drafted to the NHL by the Ottawa Senators in the 1st round of the 2008 entry draft. He has appeared in 725 NHL games during his career, notching 142 goals and adding 400 assists along with 307 penalty minutes. The 29 year old defenseman looks to stay a member of the team for a long time.

Section 6: Salary Cap

6.01. Salary Cap. There is currently a salary cap system in place that controls player budgets. Remember, your budgets are for both professional and farm teams.

Salary Cap: $70,000,000

6.02. Breaking Caps. For those teams whose boards have provided a budget lower than the league maximum teams are allowed to exceed their set budgets (up to the league maximum). However, in doing so teams risk going into debt. Please see rule 6.03 for penalties regarding teams in debt. Teams can be over the maximum budget up to $85,000,000 from the start of the playoffs to the end of the preseason but must be under the cap by the start of the season. You will not be allowed to sign any UFA's that put you over the offseason cap (ie puts you over 85 million in budget). Any team that violates the cap will have their highest paid player released. If a free agent signing is the cause of going over the cap and it is not rectified by the start of the season, it will NOT be the recent signing that is released.

Sorry, did the cap get changed to 65mil? I'm fine with that change if you want, and you can release Kovalchuk (who's retiring anyway) to get me well under, but I want to point out that I had asked if the cap was being changed previously:

^ again, if you want to reduce it, I'm game. I don't think it's a bad idea to do (heck, half the reason I signed Kovalchuk to that ridiculous contract was to prove that the cap was too high), I just might need a bit more than one sim to cut ~4mil

The reason the cap was set at that level was that when we went over to the new game file some teams had budgets close to $100,000,000. Ihad to use the roll back software twice just to get those teams under $70,000,000.

Yeah, the problem there was going through lots of individual player files to do it. Probably should have done it that way but hey, done now.
