So denis wideman has been suspended for 20 games and has been fine over $560,000 for supposedly hitting a linesman.
What do you think? The Players association is appealing the decision.
It looks bad but I could also accept widemans explanation that he was hit, woozy, didnt see the linesman until the last second and reacted to protect himself.

Clearly a cheap shot. He did nothing to show remorse in the moment. How many times in the history of concussions have you seen a player hit a ref? It was a terrible explanation and even worse action. Should have been suspended for the year.

I'm not surprised one bit with 20 games. Wideman could have at least hit the referee and not the linesman...  |

the referee backed up into him, he was messed up and concussed. I believe 10-15 games should of been the call. He didnt do it out of anger

Seems about right to me. He clearly give the 'bump' a little bit extra.

Not nearly long enough for what I still feel is a deliberate hit to an on ice official. I said before and still think he should have been suspended for the rest of the season (34 games) plus all playoff games if Calgary makes the post season.

As a referee myself. I think he should be gone for the rest of the season, playoffs included. Just watch the video. He intended to hit him. His story is bullShatner. There's no place for this kind of action anywhere in sports. I don't understand why they are going to appeal this. Bonehead move comes with consequences. Wideman embarrassed himself and let his team down as they now have to look for a D-man.
