Draft Review:
1. Louis Bruneau who prior to the draft was praised to be the next big thing out of Carolina, was pissed on by the GHL gods and now seems that he has attended the Josh Lewis school of choking. What once looked like the future No.1 center of the Hurricanes will likely play a bottom line role or be lost in the depth charts for good.
2. Paul Bittner selected in the 2nd round this cat will likely be an underage candidate to go to the farm and develop into the ideal 3rd line hit and grind guy.
3. Vladislav Gavrikov another 2nd round selection will be a tank in his own end. Likely to be used on the bottom pairing or as trade bait for the future.
4. Frederik Forsberg selected in the 3rd round this little guy will be a monster offensively, may be called up a few times in his career for development but his lack of physical play will make him quality trade bait.
5. Gabriel Gagne selected mid round in the 5th can become a valuable 4th liner down the line.
Line outlook:
Micheal Grabner - Henrik Sedin - Kirill Petrov
Daniel Sedin - Nazem Kadri - Calle Jarnkrok
Guillaume Latendresse - Jiri Tlusty - Brandon Sutter
Tom Sestito - Valeri Nichushkin - Zach Budish
Haydn Fleury - ?
Greg Pateryn - Alex Grant
Brett Bellemore - Petteri Lindohm
Christopher Nilstorp
Rasmus Tirronen
Team goal:
Ultimately this team wants to start winning some games while developing some kids and creeping into the playoffs. A number 1 center and another top line defender are the main goals this offseason for the Canes. What was the 4th OA pick last season is the main trade chip being offered. Michal Air Jordan could also see a trade in his future as offensive D men are like tits on a bull to the Canes organization. Rasmus Tirronen or Christopher Nilstorp two very capable no.1 goaltenders, can also be made available.
Don't be shy to approach when it comes to trades.
