The further we go the more debatable may seem the choice
But still
11. Dmitri Makarov, LW
Assets: Excellent goalscorer with almost perfect hitting abilities and very good speed, that make him an offensive threat. He almost doesn’t take bad penalties and can be perfect on the face-off point
Flaws: Can be very often caught out of position and rarely checks opponent. Along with poor consistency all these qualities make look like a typical stereotype Russian forward, though we know not all of them are lazy
Career potential: bottom 6 forward, PP specialist, 79 OF 66 DF 75 OA
Similar players: strange but there are no analogues of this level in the league yet
12. Kyle Thompson, RW
Assets: I would mark him an absolute steal if he is chosen later than in the first round. Projected by CSB to be chosen in the mid of the 2nd round, but has very good, almost excellent offensive instincts with superb ST. Very durable, doesn’t take penalties and good at face-offs.
Flaws: Poor defensive abilities and not a perfect skater. Consistency may be sometimes an issue
Career potential: bottom 6 forward, PP specialist, 91 OF 54 DF 74 OA
Similar players: copy of Matej Stransky from TB
13. Luke Heroux, C
Assets: The first dark horse on the list. If grown correctly and properly he has all the tools to become an offensive threat with excellent SH, PL and superb ST, has amazing speed
Flaws: Really poor defensive abilities though that seems to be not his job
Career potential: top 6 forward, PP specialist, 92 OF 52 DF 77 OA
Similar players: copy of Matej Stransky from TB
14. Joe Kelly, C
Assets: Typical power center for your third line. Makes crushing hits, perfect on the point and amazes you with ST abilities. Punches opponents with ease.
Flaws: very slow and can be outplayed by quick players easily, average SH and PL. Can often take bad penalties.
Career potential: top 9 forward, 77 OF 75 DF 75 OA
Similar players: something like Kyle Baun from ATL with way worse PL
15. Radomir Plaschke, RW
Assets: Just like Ambroz Chromie listed as No 7 – his overall offensive talent is concentrated in his ST abilities. Good skater and good at face-offs, very reliable at checking opponents.
Flaws: Has just meh SH and PL and can be caught out of position. Consistency is an issue as well.
Career potential: bottom 6 forward, 80 OF 73 DF 75 OA
Similar players: slightly something like Zach Nastasiuk from DET
16. Nelson Gardner, D
Assets: Very good defensive abilities along with high speed and endurance make him a good penalty killer. Not typical for defensive defenseman superb stick handling.
Flaws: Pretty soft when talking about hitting.
Career potential: top 6 defenseman, PK specialist, 65 OF 77 DF 77 OA
Similar players: something like Ryan Pulock from MIN with worse hitting
17. Erik-Johan Kalling, C
Assets: Listed as a top prospect now, but has only excellent PL and consistency. Good speed and endurance but nothing something special.
Flaws: Very average defensive abilities and sometimes may take bad penalties
Career potential: top 9 forward, PP specialist, 79 OF 60 DF 76 OA
Similar players: something like Clayton Keller from ATL
18. Jan Sykora, LW
Assets: As for me Jan is not a way worse playmaker than listed as a top prospect Kalling. Has the same offensive tools and slightly better defensively.
Flaws: What makes him worse than Kalling – is not ideal consistency and pretty average durability. Will take a long time to develop.
Career potential: top 9 forward, PP specialist, 82 OF 65 DF 70 OA
Similar players: something like Clayton Keller from ATL
19. Bryan Spears, C
Assets: Nothing special or outstanding. Has good shooting and perfect on the point. Pretty quick and durable.
Flaws: Has just average defensive abilities and may have consistency problems.
Career potential: top 9 forward, 75 OF 64 DF 76 OA
Similar players: something like Blahoslav Stirlich from COL with better shooting
20. Ken Rouse, D
Assets: Typical defensive defenseman with pretty good checking and positioning. Has also good wheels and durability. May serve as a good penalty killer.
Flaws: Nothing special on offence, even stick handling is below good. May seem to be a bit soft when hitting
Career potential: top 6 defenseman, PK specialist 55 OF 78 DF 75 OA
Similar players: something like Bernd Wahlstrom from DAL
