Chicago and Phoenix have come to terms on the following
To CHI D Justin Hache (75)
To PHO D Trevor van Riemsdyk (70)
Trevor van Riemsdyk wasn't going to see much time on the pro squad. He may be able to play in Phoenix. So I get a youngster that may work into something in return.
Thanks for the Deal, Phoenix.

Confirm, van Riemsdyk can get NHL minutes for me, and hopefully will develop nicely. Bit of a risk with his age, but worth it.
Thanks Chicago

My thoughts on this deal was that Trevor van Riemsdyk was not going to see any ice time soon on the pro squad. I thought Hache had some potential to develop into a decent d man down the road. He went from 59>61 in defense last sim. Van Riemsdyk also improved is skills but its a shot in the dark really who develops better. Riemsdyk has a better OA, but I think I can develop Hache into something. That's about the jist for me. Whatever you guys rule I will live with.

So essentially I expressed my interest in van Riemsdyk, noting that obviously Chicago is leading the league and he was in the farm, being wasted. I find players don't really develop much (if at all) once they hit 24, so he basically has this season to develop (and I just finished a test up to the playoffs, with him getting 25min per game, for 60 NHL games, and he only reached 63-75-71, so it's a risk in that sense, as he may not get much beyond that).
Anyway, I listed some players I thought he might be interested in, and he picked out Haché, presumably because he is younger and can thus wait on the farm for two or three years. So I said sure, post away. I don't mind adding to the deal, because I do recognize why people want it reviewed, but I also don't think the difference between the two is necessarily massive, because van Riemsdyk is unlikely to hit his peak.

Based on my simming ahead 2.5 seasons and Stephen going a bit more, TVR will see his D ratings go into at least the mid-80s while HAche never quite looks like he'll make the NHL. I've definitely seen guys continue development into their mid/late-20s so it's quite possible TVR hits the 90s - but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Once we get a season or 2 in, I think the player progression will become a bit more predictable but I'm struggling with it myself right now so I understand how we can have misunderstandings and different interpretations. So we learn as we go. I did recommend to the TC having a 2nd rounder added to the deal but I don't know if those opposing the deal would deem that enough.
Would like to see other opinions.

TVR is going to be a very good player. I simmed ahead several seasons and he does continue to develop well past the age of 24/25. At 27 I had his defensive stats in the 90's. Hache on the other hand doesn't come anywhere near that level.
I appreciate that at the moment TVR doesn't have a spot on Chicagos roster and therefore Jeff is more inclined to trade him away but he is worth a lot more than Hache and indeed I think more than hache and the second that Dave suggested as I'm not sure hache has much NHL value.
Sorry folks, hate having to decline deals, especially with veteran GM's but we also need to set some boundaries and this deal is an example of a one sided deal.
As it stands, this trade cannot go ahead.
