Sorry again that there have been none of the normal write ups. I'm running off my laptop whilst I wait for some new parts for my PC and the software I use is on that.
This has been an interesting playoffs. I didn't expect it to be a Tampa Anaheim final at all. New Jersey seemed to be the powerhouse team in the East and I though ST Louis the strengest in the West by quite a way, however, as we have seen so many times now, goalies win play-off games, or more accurately, goalies lose playoff games. Hardly even of the games in the finals this year have seen a game where both goalies perform well. Instead we have seen collapse after collapse leading to some very one sided games.
Tampa Bay are worthy winners having been knocking at the door for quite a while now. It's not been a season without controversy for the team with salary cap issues to address on occasions and also losing some extremley good players to the new UFA rules. It will be interesting to see what moves Ian makes to retain a winning team next season as I have no doubt cap issues and players on the UFA list will play a key role again.
Anaheim have also been a steadily growing team and Sean has done a good job over many seasons getting them to this level. On paper I would have said they were the weaker of the four mentioned teams but that rarely reflect st the picture on ice.
Thank you all for another GHL Season. The off season schedule will be posted later today. The draft will be done on Friday so people can get in any contract signings they may want before we advance a couple of weeks in game. Remember there are now teams taking advantage of the low UFA compensation rates, so spend your salary wisely. It may be beneficial to trade that star who wants $10,000,000 rather than put him to UFA and lose him to a bag of pucks and a subscription to "learning finance weekly".
